Challenging power

Each one of us feels to be someone important in the society. We all dream someday we will grow big enough and have enough influence in our hands to walk unchecked.

Well the true motive behind this is to bolster your ego by showing someone his powerlessness in front of you. Trying to act smart in front of your friends and all praise you for it.

This so called power is short-lived. You can’t cash on it for your whole life. A simple example to prove this – When you were assigned as a class representative of your class in college all your colleagues used to call you and used to be constantly in touch. After the college ended nobody cared. So were you satisfied with this temporary hype or are you dissatisfied on your state of life after being ripped off the command.

Look at our ministers. They enjoyed their command during their elected period. Later they were running from jail coz they were badly accused and no one was there to protect the powerless.

So why run for this. There are lots of ramifications in it. The worst part is you become the target of blame game.

How about creating something in you which becomes a source of influence that would drive people towards you. A bit difficult but achievable.

Start with searching what is that people want from you. You may not consider it as your strength but it might be in real sense. Grow it. If the seeds are laid in you then nurture the fruits and give it away.

Remember the most important thing that would matter from the jump till the drop that you should be able to deliver something fruitful that would create some value in people’s life.

Don’t exploit your power, exploit yourself. Power may or may not last, but you will live to influence yourself. Learn to challenge power at every step. It is not because of power that you exist it is the other way.

Power corrupts the mind... its true in many cases. most of them cannot handle power. when you are in power and people listen to you, many a times, its not out of respect but out of fear. everyone wants to be in the good books of people who are in power.. don't we try to impress the strict professor by doing the work on time, being good in class and agreeing to everything they say? but what happens after you are no longer under him.. as you correctly cited here, we no longer care about that person.. power, respect, love and money, these are a few things which are better off earned rather than inherited or snatched..
True strength of a person does not lye when he uses his powers but when he chooses not to use it even though he can.. :)
