Home Telephone rings: “Mom send tea in my room”
Whatsapp msg: “Hey Rhea whats up. Haven’t seen u for a long
time. Hope you are doing well.”
Twitter/Facebook Status update: “Sana is now married to
Akhilesh Raut”
What do we see in above cases. A clear display of
exploitation of technology. I wonder what Graham Bell must have thought if he
had seen his telephone making very short distance calls just to avoid getting
out of bed. I recollect a witty saying – A minute on the lips a lifetime on the
hips.
If we look at today’s generation this technological edge is
vital for surviving the demanding phase of time. By multitasking we avoid the
unnecessary moments wasted in expressing our views. To be precise 17 muscles to
smile and 42 muscles to frown. A smiley/emoticon saves that efforts. And yes
saves you from being blank and not obligated to reply at once.
I see communication going way behind to the stone age
species where they used to carve out on stone to make a point. By alternating
face to face communication we are losing the real fun of knowing each other.
Having 1000+ friends on facebook will not help a person in needy times. The
common symptoms observed in today’s youth is boredom because chatting on
whatsapp with fake smileys won’t lead to a natural conversation where happiness
is indeed expressed and savored.
Sometimes people do not understand the true motives behind a
point stated. The emoticons and slang befuddles few. This ambiguity is
eradicated when it comes to face to face where one identifies the tone and the
body gestures. Online chatting is like covering your eyes and trying to hit a
bullseye. Again this won’t make a sense to a person who does not believe in
chatting offline.
By stating the cons of online world things are not turned
completely destructive. By texting your partner things to buy gives clarity on
exact things which might have got misunderstood on call or face to face
conversation. A wife can prove his husband showing the SMS she sent.
The world has expanded for a human, due to the activities he
indulges in. It is practically impossible to meet each and everyone daily. But
one should make a point to meet his or her friends whenever possible. Love can
only be experienced truly face to face and not via miss you love messages. It is upto us what we choose to embrace - Physical dialogue or a messenger conversation
